Hi there! My name is Kmi (like Amy but with a K). I was born and raised in Mount Pleasant, DC to the rhythms and melodies of Kenny G, The Fugees, and Celine Dion in the 90s. Shout out to Bancroft Elementary, Hardy Middle School, and AALead—where I first learned to read and my love for stories and the art of telling them had began.
My family eventually moved to Falls Church, VA to experience the suburban life. I stayed there through college, then moved to Seattle for love and work. During the pandemic, we (my love & I) decided to return to Northern Virginia to start our family.
While I considered mentioning what I had been doing professionally for the past 10 years, I think what’s more relevant to this blog is my optimism, zeal for living, and curiosity to see the world with fresh eyes. I hope that enthusiasm and positivity comes through in my writing. With that, I leave you with one of my favorite quotes:
